Belinda Belyeu
Mrs. Belyeu grew up and graduated high school here in Pawnee. She went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas State University in San Marcos and then received her Master’s Degree in General Education from Texas A&I University (which later became Texas A&M) in Kingsville in 1980. She came back to Pawnee and has taught all grades from Headstart to 12th grade. While growing up, Mrs. Belyeu wanted to become either a professional basketball player or volleyball player. As a result, when she came to work at Pawnee, she coached for the first 19 years. She now teaches 3rd through 5th grade Math, 5th grade Social Studies and 8th grade Spanish I to our students. Mrs. Belyeu has now been teaching for 27 years and knew long ago that she wanted to teach so she could make every child feel welcome at school. The hope that Pawnee gave when she was young pushed her to become the teacher who makes children feel important and safe. She feels that if a child doesn’t feel safe and cared for, they won’t learn.
